Charity – Making an Impact
While we’re not a charity, we do charitable work. We focus our giving where we know we will be making an impact.
In 2019, James M Hays Lodge donated an AED (Defibrillator) to Bay View High School in the hopes that it would never be needed but would be there if it was needed. In the previous few years, a student athlete had collapsed after a basketball game and died.
In 2020 a staff member at BVHS had a heart attack and the AED we donated was used to save his life.
In 2023 we will be donating an FST (Fire Suppression Tool), sometimes known as a Fire Suppression Grenade, is being donated to the Brown Deer Police Department. FST’s are a compact and simple seeming device that can be tossed into a fire and quickly drop the temperature by as much as 2000 degrees. Since police officers are often the firston the scene, if an officer pulls the pin on the fire suppression tool and tosses it into a fire, it could either extinguish a fire or greatly reduce the speed of the spread, giving firefighters a few precious minutes at just the right time. That makes a fire scene less risky (if the fire is smaller) and can save lives of both the firefighters and anyone residing in or near the burning building.
The Hays Boys are known for being charitable with their time as well. Whether it’s helping to feed the hungry by working and donating to food banks, or giving respite care to parents with special needs children, the Hays Boys have stepped up.
